Signs your Home Treadmill Conveyor Belt Needs Replacing

Like most mechanical arrangements, the conveyor belt on your treadmill also needs a little care and maintenance checks every now and then. This is especially true if your home treadmill sees frequent use and by more than one member of the family. Malfunction of the conveyor belt can result in a lot of unpleasant situations ranging from mildly irritating to downright dangerous.

Imbalanced conveyor belts

When the treadmill doesn’t get regular maintenance checks then one thing which happens is walking belt misbalances. The conveyor belt can get off cantered and get tracked either to the extreme left or right. If this happens after the treadmill is used then you can have the issue fixed. However if the belt becomes side tracked during the time someone is on the treadmill then this situation can cause the person to slip or become unbalanced. Treadmill trips can lead to nasty falls so it’s important that you call in repair services to tackle. If the problem cannot be fixed or if it re-occurs more than three times in a row then it’s better to have the belt replaced.

Look at the average life of the treadmill

You should know that the average life span of the treadmill is about 2-3 years. If you are using your treadmill regularly then the belt is going to wear out sooner. It’s best not to stretch the usage of the same belt for more than three years otherwise you could end up with serious safety issues. The user manual that comes with the treadmill is there for a reason. You need to take refer it every now and then to see what to do in case some part of the treadmill malfunctions.
